Studies on Trichomonas vaginalis Infection in Out-patients and Prostitutes at Daejeon Area

Abstract
|
|
|
Studies on Trichomonas vaginalis in 180 obstetics and gynecologic out-patients and 217 prosititues were carried out at Daejeon areas during August to September, 1988. All the vaginal specimens were cultured on lash´s casein hydrolysate-serum medium at 37.5℃ for 10 days
The results are summarized as follows：
1. The prevalence of Trichomonas vaginalis was 13.9％ in total examined group
2. The prevalence of Trichomonas vaginalis was 7.8％ in 180 obsterics and gynecologic out-patients and 18.9％ in 217 prostitutes.
3. Accoding to age group, the prevalence of obstetrics and gynecologic patients were 10.7%(0-29 age group in years), 9.1% (40-49 age group in years), 5.6％ (30-39 age group in years) and 5.3％ (over 50 age gruop in years).
4. Accoding to age group, the prevalence of obstetrics and gynecologic patients were 25.3%(0-29 age group in years), 25.0% (40-49 age group in years) and 1l.4% (30-39 age group in years).
5. The most affected age group of Trichomonas vaginalis was 20-29 age group in obstetics and gynecologic out-patients and prostitutes.
